Valentino: The Last Emperor

Valentino is my favorite designer and I cannot walk down Newbury Street without stopping to drool over the window displays. I believe Valentino is the most strongly feminine designer ever.

Valentino: The Last Emperor is a documentary style film that peeks into the world of fashion designer Valentino Garavani and his partner Giancarlo Giammetti (who might be the most handsome, living man on earth). It gives a brief history behind the fashion house, Valentino's success, genius, but most of all it is a love story. It shows Valentino's love affair with giving all women what they want..."to be beautiful". All the while Giancarlo raises the bar of what it is to be a loyal, loving, and lasting life partner. The heart wrenching irony is that the footage is captured during Valentino's exit from the fashion house he made great. This movie gives a tiny glimpse into their lavish world and may even leave you in tears in the final scenes. It certainly did me.

Below is a taste of his final show (Spring 2008 Couture) before leaving the house. Breathtaking!
