Set the Mood

I always find myself wondering what music to play when friends come for dinner. The music choice requires that you consider a few things:

1. It needs to set the mood.
2. It cannot interrupt. (i.e. your guests should not feel as if they need to talk over it to be heard)
3. It is sharing something about yourself.

Lately, I have been drawn to Latin, acoustic and classical guitar. Gypsy Kings are a favorite of my father. However, it was while watching the movie Vicky Christina Barcelona and then adding the movie to my Pandora stations that I remembered how much I love that type of sound. The even bigger discovery was of Rodrigo y Gabriela. They are a young, fresh take on a traditional sound. This music has energy behind it and is perfect for summer parties. So turn it up and share it with your friends!
